04/21/08 - Long awaited updates..

Hey everyone!

Well I know its been awhile, but Ratterfly is BACK! I'm about 32 weeks pregnant now (can you believe it? Due in 8 weeks). Our daughter, Abigail, is getting bigger every day. I was diagnosed as being gestational diabetic so things are still pretty hectic for me, with doctor's appointments weekly and what not. My husband just came home from deployment this week and it looks like he may be deployed again in another few weeks -- just about the time she's due! Military life, eh? But we're handling it OK. At the moment we have two litters on the ground and a new variation has reared its mysterious head -- DOWNUNDER! I'm very excited and can't wait to get started on that line. We have several dwarves and plan to continue our selective breeding.

Anyhow, I'm glad to see everyone who's still around, and I can't wait to get back into rats full-force!

01/14/08 - Just some things..
Well, things have finally calmed down now. After being horribly, horribly sick with morning sickness and being evacuated due to fire and AGAIN due to flooding, I'm finally back on track and settling into a routine again. However, I'm still not breeding for awhile. It will be on hold until my husband gets home and can help me with the basics around the house. It isn't easy being pregnant and alone! I appreciate everyone's support during this time. This really hasn't been the easiest 18 weeks of my life, (can you believe it? I'm half-way there!) and I still have 18 more to go - and 13 weeks before my husband can even be here to be part of his baby girl's life!

11/04/07 - Lots of news.
Oct. 14th I found out that I was pregnant. Oct. 16th my husband left for a 6 month deployment (thank you Navy). He gets home in April and I'm due in June. On Oct. 22nd I was evacuated out of my home due to the Harris fire threatening my area of the county. It was stressful and difficult, believe me; less than fun. Morning sickness has hit me full force, and I find myself cleaning cages three times as often as I normally would because every little odor is getting to me. Because of this, I'm reducing my residents to keep "just" the rats I'm insanely attached to and my breeding program occupants. Everyone else is going to homes where they'll be loved and cared for just as they are here. If you're interested in anyone, PLEASE let me know!

07/11/07 - Twice monthly visits
Once we're in and settled, I'd like to begin twice monthly visits to the rattery, provided my conditions are met. I think its good for any business to have an open door policy, and I would love to share my home and hobby with fellow rat lovers. At the top of this page and also on the "Litters" page, you'll find a link to my calender. Not only will my calender have upcoming CARE events listed, but it will also list the two days a month that I will take appointments to invite you to my home. There is a limited number of appointments each day, so be sure to e-mail me quick about them! If you have a rat reserved from me and your baby won't be available for pick up during one of those days, I will still be meeting everyone at Whimsical Rats Rattery in Clairemont, which is actually a little more convenient for most people. NOTE: The requirements listed on the calender page MUST be met for you to be allowed into my rat-room. No exceptions.

06/23/07 - We really are moving!

FLY really IS moving!!

We will be moving to the Sunnyside area of Bonita, just southeast of Chula Vista. We will remain to be a closed rattery, although for a few different reasons other than just the health of our residents. Where we are moving to is very inaccessible to traffic -- great for us, not so good for business! All ratties going to new homes can be picked up at Whimsical Rats in Kearny Mesa/Clairemont area, much easier to find, and much easier on me. I do plan to install a webcam at some point so you can see the rattery and other ranch life activity, however until then, you're welcome to request impromptu/candid pictures of the rattery with unaltered timestamps. I will still be unavailable from July 30th through August 5th and no appointments will be made during this time. Thanks!

5/27/07 - Moving & Vacation News

FLY may be moving!

We may be moving slightly further into the East County to a place better suited for our pets and ourselves, of course. During this time, appointments may be a little screwy -- I apologize for any inconvenience, but it takes a lot of work to wrangle this many critters! As soon as an exact move-in date is established, I'll be able to make more solid appointments and my litters will resume after we're settled. I may possibly be taking vacation between July 24th and July 28th to Fremont, CA; and an "at-home" vacation around my anniversary (July 30th - August 5th). If I'm driving my way up north, I will be happy to arrange drop-off of reserved babies along the way; however if I'm flying, you're just outta luck! :) No visits will be arranged during this time until I know for sure what my schedule is like.

2/26/07 - New website!

I finally decided I needed a change. I hope this one will be easier to navigate and have a little bit lower maintenance requirements (my other one was such a pain). As you all know, Ratterfly comes out of official quarantine on March 7th and will resume breeding, sales and adoptions promptly thereafter with a few minor changes. First and foremost, I will now be operating a closed rattery; which means I will be having nobody in here to see the ratlets. I will be happy to allow you to pick out your baby; however we will need to meet at a convenient half-way point. The reasons for this are not only for my pets' safety, as this virus that hit me was undoutably brought in with someone visiting, and for my own safety. Being a military wife, I live alone much of the time and I'm home much of the time, so I would prefer people not know where I live. I'm sure you all understand!
